Painted Singhasan From Bikaner - 19thC
An exquisitely painted god throne dating from the 19th century. Known in Hindi as a singhasan from Bikaner, it is covered with classic Mughal symbols and a jali design. All original painting, the vibrant burnt orange is a pleasure for the eyes. As is often found on this type of shrine, there is a secret side door which in this case has been replaced.
A mix of cedar and teak indicates that it is most likely from Bikaner.
