This lovely Chinese leather trunk was made for travelling and storage of clothing. It also makes for a great lightweight coffee table. Trunks like this one have been used for many hundreds of years in China with the classic style changing very little. They are robust and work well in a contemporary western space as a coffee table, or for storage.
Traditional Chinese leather trunks were made in four colours; black, red, cream & aubergine and many of them were made in Shanghai. 

This particular piece has all its original brass fittings The rich tan colour of the trunk itself is achieved by adding lacquer onto the tanned leather of the trunk itself.
