Brass Bound Teak Campaign Box From Rajasthan - 19th Century

This practical and charming antique Indian military box dates to the 19th century. It is made from teak wood in the Anglo-Indian style and likely would have belonged to a merchant or East Indiaman. The brass bindings are typical of the campaign style introduced by the British East India Company. 


The interior has a desk tidy for letters with a removable compartment revealing extra storage space. Great for a keepsake box. A prop-stick can be used to hold the lid open. This chest has been finished in our UK workshops and has a beautiful and rich patina.
